Western Business Media wins major media award

June 30, 2023 by ifsm_dev Leave a Comment

As a key partner of FSM, we are delighted to share the following news on their behalf…

Fire Safety Matters magazine, which is published by Western Business Media, won a special commendation for Media Brand of the Year (Business Media) at the prestigious Professional Publishers Association (PPA) Awards.

The PPA Awards have been firmly established as the publishing sector’s most prestigious awards for more than 40 years. Fire Safety Matters (FSM) had to compete against brands that are owned by some of the UK’s biggest publishers to win the award.

FSM is the UK’s leading business publication, which focuses on fire safety with an audience in excess of 54,000. It is the only publication in the fire sector that is independently audited to prove its circulation.

During the past year, FSM has seen requests for the publication increase by 59%. In addition, more than 33,000 people registered to attend FSM webinars, social media followers grew by 130% and it successfully launched the FSM Awards and the Fire Industry Guide to UK Fire Safety. FSM is also the only media brand in the fire sector to be able to offer CPD to readers and attendees of its in-person and digital events.

The PPA Awards judges commented that: “Fire Safety Matters is a brand that builds a fantastic relationship with their customers to gain insight and deliver valuable content, which has fuelled growth”.

Western Business Media CEO Mark Sennett commented: “We are thrilled and honoured to win this award. There is no higher honour in our sector than being recognised at the PPA Awards. Thank you to the judges and the PPA for this incredible honour.

“The team at Fire Safety Matters truly deserve this honour as they work tirelessly to produce content of the highest quality and build strong relationships that deliver unparalleled result for our clients.

“FSM has grown beyond recognition since it was launched in 2017. But the main thanks for this honour must go to our clients and our audience for their ever-increasing support. We are proud to deliver a media brand that is shaped by the sector for the sector, which has now won a major honour from our peers.”

This is the third major award that Western Business Media has won in the past two years. It won Best Commercial Partnership for its BSIF Guide to UK Safety and Health at the PPA Independent Publishers Awards 2021. It won the same category in 2022 for its FIA Guide to UK Fire Safety.

Western Business Media is based in East Grinstead, West Sussex and has 25 staff. It publishes seven market-leading business titles including Fire Safety Matters, Health and Safety Matters, Controls Drives and Automation, Security Matters, Industrial Plant and Equipment, Logistics Matters and Cleaning Matters.

The company also runs 12 major conferences and awards annually across the UK and provides marketing, PR and business intelligence services.
