The result has come out of Working Group 4 (fire risk assessor competency), which we have taken one of the most active roles in, produced some time ago the National Framework ACoP for competency in fire risk assessors as part of the completion of its part of the DJH report and has now also launched the national fire risk assessors register which is on the Fire Sector Federation website.
Members should note that this is a national register so contains all the registrants from all the registers that are ‘out there’ including IFPO, IFE, FRACS etc. For those members who are on our TFRAR register, everyone is listed on the national register together with which Tier level they are registered for.
This is a major achievement for the Institute as we have always campaigned for a national register of fire risk assessors from when we first set up our initial register.

To apply for TFRAR, you must already be a member of the IFSM.
Once you are a member, you can apply for the register from your profile.
We have 3 tiers you can apply for on TFRAR, please relate to the guidance on our website to help decide which Tier is most suitable for you.

Is the register changing when Article 50 of the RRFSO comes in?

The register is always being reviewed (when needed), however, there is nothing changing at the moment. If anything does happen you will be notified as will all members when necessary.

Unfortunately, we may not be able to help you ourselves, as we specialize in providing targeted training to address specific knowledge gaps within the market. Our focus has been on developing training qualifications specifically around fire risk assessment, these are now under the careful oversight of ABBE. It might be wise to contact the FPA and have a look at courses ABBE offer
