After completing 13 years in the fire service, serving in all ranks/roles from fire fighter up to Group Manager, in 2006 I started my own business carrying out fire risk assessments. In that time I have carried out fire risk assessments in a full range of property times, such as a full range of commercial and industrial premises, from premises such as a small shop to a very large inner city office complex incorporating phased evacuation and fire engineered solutions, education premises, and sleeping risks to include HMO’s, large hotels and hospitals.I have also provided a mentoring and Quality Assurance service for two national companies, investigated customer complaints, liaised between customers and enforcing authorities, and assisted in the development of national procedures. I am currently also carrying out the role of Validator under the BAFE SP205 scheme, and most recently carried out a review of of the fire risk assessments of Residential care Homes conducted by a National Fire Risk Assessment Company, highlighting and short comings, and recommending changes to improve the quality of the assessments of Residential Care Premises. I have also carried out a number of internal Quality Assurance Assessments for this company.
