Jay McDonagh is a highly experienced Health and Safety Professional, specialising Fire Risk Assessment, Accident Investigations and operates as a Principal Designer under CDM2015 Regulations.Jay is also a qualified Tutor, registered with Nebosh and IOSH to deliver (amongst other courses) the Nebosh Fire Certificate. Jay developed the fire certificate course materials, including the Powerpoint presentation, which has been accredited by Nebosh.
Jay has delivered the Nebosh fire certificate many times, both in the UK and overseas.Jay owns and runs a small, family owned H&S consultancy based in the East Midlands.He is a Chartered Member of the Institute of Occupational Safety & Health and an Associate Member of Institute of Fire Safety Managers.He has acted as the Principal H&S consultant on a wide variety of construction projects, totalling over £2billion in value.Jay has conducted many accident investigations, from minor to those involving Corporate Manslaughter charges and has assisted Clients through the process of HSE investigations and prosecutions.Over the past 15 years, Jay has conducted many fire risk assessments, conforming to the Regulatory Reform (fire safety) Order 2005, building regulations part “B” and the guidance as set out in HSG168 (fire safety in Construction), created fire risk assessments for Sheltered Scheme properties, offices, shops, railways, power stations and educational facilities.Over the past few years, he has conducted fire risk assessments for low-rise general needs homes and supported / assisted living accommodations and high-rise structures such Oxford John Radcliffe Hospital re-cladding works and 12+ storey high-rise tower blocks.Jay has also liaised with local Fire and Rescue Services to assist Clients through the process of HSE alterations notifications under the regulatory reform (fire safety) order 2005.His clients have included high risk industries such as Railways and Power along with sensitive organisations such as the Bank of England and UK government agencies.Clients appreciate his commercial acumen and experience, which has earned him a reputation for solving difficult health and safety / fire conformance problems in a cost effective and efficient manner.He brings his real-life experiences into the classroom when delivering H&S / fire courses, enabling his students to apply lessons learned in the classroom to their workplaces, in an effective and practical manner. He enjoys a near 100% pass rate – including Nebosh qualifications – for all of his Students.He has developed a comprehensive Powerpoint presentation to fully explain the Building Safety Act 2022.
