Biography

I have 16 years experience working in the fire safety industry – 10 years as a Fire Safety Enforcement Officer with the Fire & Rescue Service, and a further 6 years experience as a self employed Fire Safety Consultant and Fire Risk Assessor. I have experience conducting Fire Risk Assessments for a wide variety of premises types including; offices, shops factories, warehouses, village halls, residential care homes, hotels, B&Bs, holiday accommodation, residential flats, HMOs including student accommodation, etc, etc.

In addition I have specialist knowledge and experience dealing with the fire safety requirements of historic, listed and ecclesiastical buildings. I have a lifelong passion for historical buildings, archaeology, and anything ancient! I was previously the Heritage Fire Safety Liaison Officer in the Fire & Rescue Service. I have worked closely with the National Trust and Historic England and I have been commended for my pragmatic and sensitive attitude and values towards fire safety in heritage buildings.

I cover North Wales, Cheshire, Shropshire, Merseyside, Wirral and Greater Manchester. By arrangement I can also provide services nationally, particularly my Heritage services.

These are some of the services I provide:

•    Fire Safety and Risk Management
•    Fire Risk Assessments (PAS79) in compliance with the RR(FS)O 2005
•    Pre-Occupancy Compliance Assessments
•    Advice on Building Regulations Compliance
•    Heritage Building Fire Safety and Listed Building Consent advice
•    Guidance and liaison following Enforcement / Prohibition Action by the F&RS
•    Fire Safety Training

My training has included formally assessed courses at the National Fire Service College (NFSC), and other accredited institutions. I maintain my Continuing Professional Development (CPD)

My academic qualifications include:

NEBOSH National Certificate in Fire Safety and Risk Management

Ascentis NVQ Award in Heritage Building Construction
City and Guilds 2377-22 In-Service Inspection and Testing of Electrical Equipment
